“I aim just to win, but when I saw the replay, I was amazed.” – Usain Bolt.

Usain Bolt, a name given probably by the Gods to help headline writers, proved why he should be named lightning at the Beijing Olympics 2008.He was adamant. He was awesome. For more information, watch the video.

“I dont wanna be known as the second Mark Spitz, I wanna be known as the first Michael Phelps”- Michael Phelps

Perhaps its an attitude like this thats missing in people such as us.Theres a talk about Phelps not being able to perform well in school.Thank God he was not an Indian I should say or else we would have missed a truly great Olympian. If at all he was an Indian, the overbearing nature of Indian academics would have ruined the champ in him, i guess.Perhaps the greatest Olympian of all time, Phelps has devinately proved to us that nothing is impossible.

And finally Abhinav Bindra, who according to his mom is the Most Eligible Bachelor in the country (yeah right!), got India its first individual Olympic Gold Medal. Is this a great moment to savour? Abviusly aes.But then we shouldn go gaga over the medal. His welcome-back home was rather silent compared to hype and hoopla that was created when the Indian T20 team arrived in India.[because of a certain spy probe by cnn-ibn]. He became richer by around 3 crores but then was his victory a silent testimony to the fact that the government has failed miserably in grooming talent.Bindra would not be where he is today if not for private sponsorships and his own family riches. And remember if he wasnt there the golden burden on the billion would still remain.Am I talking too early without noticing the Boxers making greater strides in their respective categories.Well aes i am and I hope disproved soon.Till then we shall have hope and only hope to have athletes of the caliber of Usain Bolt and Michael Phelps.
